Well, Britney Spears may not be getting her triumphant return to NFL and Pepsi's Super Bowl half-time show next year, but Justin Timberlake definitely is.

The global superstar was confirmed as the headliner for the coveted performance spot at Super Bowl LII's half-time show late last night (October 22), and Justin later shared a very excitable video of himself and Jimmy Fallon re-confirming the news on Twitter.

Timberlake's headline slot will mark his third time performing on the Super Bowl half-time stage, with his first performance coming as part of *NSYNC in 2001.

His second appearance came 14 years ago in 2004 during which he performed a duet version of his song 'Rock Your Body' with Janet Jackson – a performance you may remember because it sparked the incident now known as 'Nipplegate'.

The moment in question saw Justin rip away a bit of Jackson's costume at the end of the song and briefly reveal Jackson's breast and nipple shield on live TV to over 143 million viewers.

Jackson and Timberlake both later apologised for the incident, with Timberlake calling it a "wardrobe malfunction", but the whole thing prompted a legal battle over FCC censorship and is why there is now a five-second broadcast delay on all live television performances.

So, maybe make sure that all clothes stay on during this performance, alright Justin?

Justin Timberlake will be hoping to rival Lady Gaga's show-stopping and gravity-defying set at Super Bowl LI in Houston earlier this year, and also has show-stopping performances from the likes of Coldplay, Beyoncé, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars to take inspiration from as well.

Super Bowl LII will air in the US live from NBC on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
