Kangaroo Found by RSPCA in Charred Wasteland Guzzles Water From Glass

Koalas and kangaroos were among the victims of bushfires that raged in a 25,000-hectare area over the Adelaide hills on the weekend before Christmas 2019.

This footage shows an RSPCA inspector giving a glass of water to a kangaroo that they found in the a charred wasteland the fire had scorched.

The RSPCA said that much of their work involved “humanely euthanizing” animals that had been left injured and maimed by the fires, often cattle and sheep.

The South Australia fires were confirmed to have destroyed 86 homes and more than 500 other structures, 7 News reported.

The Bureau of Meteorology said that heatwave conditions were persisting over the the north of the state and temperatures in the 40s were expected to return to Adelaide by the following weekend. Credit: RSPCA South Australia via Storyful
