Kanye West has pushed back the release date of his forthcoming album Yandhi for the second time.

Hours after performing at Camp Flog Gnaw with Kid Cudi, with renditions of tracks from their collaborative album Kids See Ghosts, the rapper sent out a post on Twitter to let fans know his ninth album would arrive later than expected.

"After performing again, I realise the new album I've been working on isn't ready yet," he said. "I'll announce the release date once it's done. Thank you for understanding."

Yandhi was previously supposed to be released on 29 September, but was then postponed to 23 November, with West's wife Kim Kardashian telling her followers it was "worth the wait".

After the album was pushed back the first time, West told TMZ that he wanted to record new sounds in Africa.

"I didn't finish [the album]," he said. "A person from my management staff had suggested because the album is so good, it's my... I started incorporating sounds that you never heard before and pushing it, and having like, concepts that people don't, you know, talk about."

He continued: "So we're going to Africa in two weeks to record... I felt this energy when I was in Chicago, I felt the roots. But we have to go to what is known as Africa. I need to go, I need to find out what it's really called. Just grab the soil and be and cook food, five meals a day so the metabolism stays up, have my kids in the studio, have the mic out in the open so you can hear nature while we're recording."

Yandhi was slated to be West's third album this year, after his solo record ye, which received mixed reviews, and his collaborative LP with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts. A number of artists are rumoured to feature on Yandhi, including Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, 070 Shake, TY Dolla Sign, Young Thug and, more controversially, rappers 6ix9ine and the late XXXTentacion.

West's latest singles to be released are "XTCY" and "I Love It" with Lil Pump.
