Kanye West says 'I love Donald Trump', likes how Candace Owens 'challenges conventional black thought'

Kanye West has reportedly doubled down on his support of Donald Trump, telling radio DJ Ebro he "loves" the president during a heated phone conversation.

Many fans expected Kanye to walk back his pro-Trump stance following his hospitalisation last year, but he has stuck by his claim that he would have voted for the president and backed controversial conservative black commenter Candace Owens in the middle of a barrage of tweets over the weekend.

In the conversation with Ebro (recounted below), which apparently came about after a private message argument on Instagram, Kanye apparently told the DJ he wants "to deprogram people...to have people think differently than they have before."

"The only reason he likes this Candace lady is because she's 'challenging conventional black thought,'" Ebro continued, clearly vexed by Kanye's words.

"Then he went on to talk about demonisation, he feels like he's been demonised. And how as a society we demonise individuals who are trying to speak out and challenge conventional thought. We demonise them for trying to think different, when really they're just trying to continue to make progress."

The DJ concluded: "Then he said, 'I do love Donald Trump.' Kanye West, quote: 'I love Donald Trump.'"

Candace Owens, who recently described Black Lives Matter protestors as "whiners" who are projecting a "victim mentality" instead of a "victor mentality", was delighted by the rapper's endorsement.

“I’m freaking out. @kanyewest ….please take a meeting with me," she tweeted. "I tell every single person that everything that I have been inspired to do, was written in your music. I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay. I need you to help wake up the black community.”

“In about 10 seconds [after the Kanye tweet] I became the KKK member, anti-LGBT, you name it" she added to Fox & Friends. "Just because I think differently and I refuse to accept this narrative that I’m a victim. I’m not a victim."
