Kanye West says he ‘likes Jewish people again’ after watching ’21 Jump Street’

Kanye West has said he “likes Jewish people again” after watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street.

Over the weekend, the rapper took to Instagram to share the official promotional poster for the 2012 film, which also stars Channing Tatum. “Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street made me like Jewish people again,” Ye wrote as the caption.

“No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of people. No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew.”

He added: “Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

In response to West’s post, 21 Jump Street director Christopher Miller tweeted: “Um… thanks for watching?” Co-director Phil Lord wrote: “Laughter is the best medicine.”

Hill, who wrote 21 Jump Street alongside Michael Bacall, has not yet commented on West’s remarks.

However, the rapper has been accused of trivializing antisemitism and using Hill as a token by some Jewish groups and media outlets.

Ye received significant backlash last year after posting and expressing a number of antisemitic views.

In December, the Donda artist tweeted an image of a swastika following an interview in which he praised Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Twitter CEO Elon Musk subsequently suspended Ye’s account on the platform, saying he had “violated our rule against incitement to violence”.

West’s controversial behaviour led to him being dropped by various brands including Adidas and Balenciaga.

In other news, it was recently announced that the BBC is set to air a new documentary about West’s life titled We Need to Talk about Kanye.  The film will be presented by investigative journalist Mobeen Azhar. An accompanying eight-part podcast series is also in the works.

Kanye West was the subject of a three-part Netflix documentary series, Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, in early 2022.
