Kate Bush thinks Theresa May is “wonderful”
Oh dear. If Kate Bush starts to see sales for her new album Before the Dawn fall just a little bit flat, she only has herself to blame.
The Hounds of Love singer has given thousands of fans an almighty shock by lavishing Theresa May with a string of gushing compliments during an interview with a Canadian current affairs magazine.
Kate once described her song 1985 song ‘Waking the Witch as about “the fear of women’s power”, and during the interview Elio Iannacci asked her whether “this fear is stronger than ever” following Hillary Clinton’s shock defeat in the US presidential election.
“We have a female prime minister here in the UK,” Kate replied. “I actually really like her and think she’s wonderful.
Really? Really? But wait, there’s more…
“I think it’s the best thing that’s happened to us in a long time. She’s a very intelligent woman but I don’t see much to fear. I will say it is great to have a woman in charge of the country.”
The 58-year-old warbler’s fans clearly had her down as decidedly left-of-centre – and were just a little bit shocked by the revelation.
Naturally they took to Twitter to vent their fury.
I know we have to pretend to love Kate Bush but now she's banging on about Theresa May being great I have my get-out clause.

I'm really sad about Kate Bush being a Tory but your hot takes on her art being not good are all wrong

Record company bosses may well be banging their heads against the wall in the wake of Kate’s comments: Before the Dawn is currently sitting at the top of the UK charts, on course to hand her a first number one in three decades.
Whether record sales suffer a sharp drop as a result of her Theresa May-loving remarks remains to be seen.
