Kate Garraway makes fun of Iain Lee after falling down a wishing well

Iain Lee was laughed at – quite literally – when he appeared on this week’s Good Morning Britain, after turning up in a neck brace.

When the former I’m A Celeb finalist appeared on today’s programme to talk to Kate Garraway, 50, and Charlotte Hawkins, 42, he wasn’t greeted by the sympathy he would’ve perhaps expected as he was mocked for his visible injury.

Turning up in a neck brace and looking a little stiffer than usual, Iain, 44, didn’t seem too fond of the presenters laughing at him as he sat there in discomfort.

Kate, , introduced the radio host as she joked about poor Ian’s predicament: ‘Iain Lee joins us, by the skin of his teeth. He’s had a near death experience,’ she said. ‘I don’t want to laugh, but he fell down a well. I just find it so funny at the same time.’

‘I thought this was going to be a serious discussion about well-droppers!’ he quipped, as everyone had a good laugh at his misfortune.

Describing how he injured his neck, the comedian revealed what happened while visiting a wishing well in Milton Keynes: ‘I was making a wish, because you know I’ve had a bit of bad luck recently, I tossed a coin and I tossed it like that to go into the well and it got stuck in the moss.

‘So I put my legs over the well and held onto the rope to try and get it, and then I fell.’

After a roar of laughter, Iain followed up his need for sympathy as he spoke of the woes it had caused him: ‘It’s not funny! It took me an hour to get out of bed because I’m so stiff!’ he replied.

But Kate did feel bad for giggling at Iain, and tried to offer something in terms of a sympathetic ear amidst all the laughter: ‘I’m sorry, it’s not funny. I don’t want to laugh at your pain.’

When she mentioned how pale he looked, Iain jovially hit back to confirm ‘Yes, I’ve been down a well!’ before stating that ‘The fire brigade came to get me,’ which resulted in even more belly laughs.

Sadly for Iain the joking didn’t stop there, where a miniature well was brought out onto the set, as the trauma all came flooding back to him.

Fortunately things were kept fun and lighthearted during Iain’s appearance, which couldn’t be said for his recent time on The Wright Stuff ended in his walking off the show after Matthew Wright’s uncomfortable line of questioning. Still, he’ll no doubt be glad Piers Morgan wasn’t there, who would’ve no doubt mocked him tenfold.

Catch Good Morning Britain each weekday, from 6am, on ITV1.
