Kate Middleton Arrives at Her Christmas Carol Service in Festive Red
Kate Middleton is embracing the Christmas spirit!
The Princess of Wales arrived at her annual Christmas carol in a festive red coat with a black bow at the collar. The Princess accessorized with black high heeled boots and pearl drop earrings.
She made her initial arrival solo, though her husband Prince William, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are expected to attend as well.
At this year's Christmas Carol at Westminster Abbey, Princess of Wales "wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive," Kensington Palace shared last month. "This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy."
It's possible that this year's theme is a reaction to the tough health year that Kate has had. In September, she announced she had finished chemotherapy in a moving, three-minute long video. Tonight marks just the eighth public engagement that the Princess of Wales has undertaken this year—she scaled back significantly to focus on her health and recovery.
Kensington Palace added, "This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives. The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities."
Last week, it was revealed that among the 1,600 guests inside Westminster Abbey will be families impacted by the Southport stabbing. The guests will receive a letter from Kate. "I am so delighted that you’re able to join this Carol Service. I wanted to write and share my heartfelt thanks for all that you have done to provide comfort and hope to those who need it the most," she wrote in it. "Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. It is a time for celebration and joy, but it also gives us the opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness - so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about."
Also joining the Princess of Wales this evening will be members of the royal family, and members of her Middleton family.
