Back in February, the Duchess of Cambridge and The Countess of Wessex welcomed fashion glitterati, such as Anna Wintour, Stella McCartney and Edward Enninful, to Buckingham Palace to celebrate the launch and inaugural exhibition of The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange.

Now, 31 items from the exhibition are travelling to Ascot to be displayed in the Queen Anne Enclosure and Royal Enclosure for the duration of the Royal Meeting.

The initiative, spearheaded by Commonwealth Secretary General the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland and Livia Firth, founder of sustainability consultancy Eco-Age showcases designs, designers and artisans from across the Commonwealth’s 53 countries.

Major fashion designers such as Stella McCartney, Karen Walker and Bibi Russell partnered with artisan producers in small nations to create bespoke womenswear looks for the exhibition, to illustrate the power and potential in global co-design and skills exchange.

“As someone who is passionate about joining the threads of global fashion and creating real partnerships you can imagine how exciting it is to see The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange come to life,” says Livia Firth.

“Fashion and style has always been such an integral part of Royal Ascot and we are passionate about inspiring racegoers with both classic and contemporary styles that are fit for a formal, daytime occasion such as ours,” said Juliet Slot, Chief Commercial Officer at Ascot Racecourse. “As an event that attracts visitors from around the globe, I’m looking forward to seeing the culture and fashion from 53 countries on display for people to admire and appreciate.”
