Kate Middleton just wrapped up a whirlwind tour of the United Kingdom, promoting a cause close to her heart — early childhood development.

Over two days, the Duchess of Cambridge made stops in Birmingham, London, Cardiff and Surrey to celebrate the launch of her new initiative, the “5 Big Questions on the Under 5s” survey. The results will be used to better understand the issues most important to parents and caregivers when it comes to raising young children.

“As a parent, I know how much we cherish the future health and happiness of our children,” the mother-of-three told an audience at her Birmingham stop. “I want to hear the key issues affecting families and communities so I can focus my work on where it is needed most. My ambition is to provide lasting change for generations to come.”

The Duchess has visited the Ely and Careau Children’s Centre in Cardiff to meet with parents and children who benefit and gain support from the centre’s programs. Although Middleton left six-year-old Prince George, four-year-old Princess Charlotte and one-year-old Prince Louis at home, the royal still managed to keep her children close to her heart.

Middleton showed off a $1,839 Gold Midnight Moon Necklace from British designer Daniella Draper, personalized to include “G,” “C” and “L” — each of her children’s initials. The Duchess paired the sweet accessory with a black turtleneck, a pleated animal print skirt from Zara and a camel cashmere Massimo Dutti coat.

The personalized necklace is just one of several that Middleton and sister-in-law Meghan Markle have worn in honour of their children.

In 2013, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted wearing a $222 18-carat gold plated necklace from London jeweller Merci Maman. The necklace was a gift from the brand to celebrate the birth of her first son, Prince George. Middleton’s necklace was engraved with “George’’ with a “W” charm for Middleton’s husband, Prince William.

Since welcoming her first son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, in May 2019, the Duchess of Sussex has been spotted wearing a $535 gold-plated “A” necklace by Verse Fine Jewellery.

Markle has also worn necklaces by Toronto jeweller Suetables in the astrological signs of her husband Prince Harry (Virgo) and son Archie (Taurus). The brand is a sustainable favourite of Markle’s close friend, Jessica Mulroney, and works to support silver houses in Mexico by employing local artisans.
