Kate Middleton and Prince William reportedly made a donation to a food bank in London that was robbed of some of its stock.

On Sept. 13, the charity Pecan thanked the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 42, for donating to the replenishment effort after a Southwark Foodbank warehouse in London was robbed earlier that week. The Southwark Council said in a statement that thousands of dollars worth of food, hygiene products and a laptop were stolen in the incident on Sept. 8, and Pecan thanked the royals for supporting the restock.

"A huge thank you to @Kensingtonroyal who have donated to the recovery effort following the theft of £3k of food supplies from @southwarkfoodbk," the Christian charity wrote on X last Friday, tagging Prince William and Princess Kate's official handle.

"All at @Pecan121a have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from across society. Food stocks are being replenished now," the group added, along with a heart emoji.

PEOPLE has contacted Pecan for comment.

According to the BBC, Kensington Palace said that Prince William and Princess Kate heard about what happened, and wanted to send support. Citing the food bank, the outlet reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales had pledged £3,500, which is about $4,260.

A donation page for Southwark Foodbank, which is run from Peckham High Street in southeast London, explained that the warehouse's door and shutter were also damaged in the theft, and would need to be repaired. The food bank supports about 100 households a week, and works to ensure that those in need are fed as nutritiously as possible, its website says.

While the Metropolitan Police haven't made any arrests, per the BBC, Pecan CEO Peter Edwards further praised the community for an "overwhelming reaction" of support.

"We thank them all for their support at the end of a very tough week," Edwards told the outlet.

"We are delighted that after such a difficult time for their own family, the Waleses thought of us and the people of the community in need across Southwark, and that's testament to their decency and compassion," he added.

On Sept. 9, Princess Kate released a video message on social media to share that she completed chemotherapy treatment. The three-minute clip was shot by Will Warr in August in Norfolk, home to the family's country house, Anmer Hall, and the Princess of Wales was joined in the footage by Prince William and their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

"As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment," she said in the message, which featured footage of her and her family exploring the great outdoors. "The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown."

"The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you," Princess Kate said in part. "With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything."

The Princess of Wales said she was focused on staying cancer-free and that she looked forward to "undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can."

Although Princess Kate completed chemo after announcing in March that she was receiving cancer treatment, she is not expected to fully return to royal duties anytime soon.

"She had a lovely summer and is very focused on her wellbeing. She is definitely going to be doing less," a source in her circle recently told PEOPLE.
