Things seem to have calmed down over in ye olde England now that the queen’s out here supporting Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to step down from royal duties, but, um. Prince William and Kate Middleton are apparently “still reeling.”

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, royal reporter Katie Nicholl said, “I think the severity of what’s happened has had a huge impact on his brother, on his sister-in-law,” confirming that “both of them are still reeling from the news, coming to terms with the reality of this situation.”

This follows previous reports that “William was blindsided by Harry and Meghan’s decision and statement,” although the good news is that the brothers appear to have ended their long-standing “feud” before Harry’s return to Canada.

Per The Sun’s royal reporter Dan Wootton, William and Harry repaired their rift thanks to “secret peace talks”:

“William and Harry have spent time together privately away from the official Sandringham Summit working on their relationship and discussing their future,” a source said. “It has been groundbreaking in terms of saving their bond as brothers and has been totally driven by them. But Kate and Meghan, who was in Canada, did join in with some of the talks on more than one occasion—which is another sign of a real thaw in their relationship. Things are better.”

The source also added that Wills and Harry “decided to cut out all the toxic people stirring around them to deal with each other man to man as brothers. Given Harry is now permanently moving away, there was a realization if they didn’t sort things out now, they never would. Of course there have been serious differences in opinions, but the family warmth is back. And they’re sad they’re going to be so far apart.”
