The Duchess of Cambridge, 33, arrived at the Paddington hospital at 06:00am BST.

She entered the hospital through a rear entrance today before an official statement from Kensington Palace was made 30 minutes later.

Kate will be seen by the same medical team who helped with the birth of Prince George in July 2013.

The team will be headed up by Dr Guy Thorpe-Beeston, who specialises in high-risk pregnancies and who also holds the official title of surgeon-gynaecologist to the Royal Household.

Kate and William have not said whether they are expecting a boy or a girl, but the punters seem certain they will be welcoming a daughter to the family.

The odds are currently at 8/15 for a girl compared to 11/8 money for a boy, with Alice and Arthur the bookies’ favourite baby names.

Catherine announced her second pregnancy on 8 September 2014 and made her last official public engagement at the end of March 2015, when she was seen visiting the Stephen Lawrence Centre in Deptford, South London with William.

Kate and Will’s second baby pushes Prince Harry down the succession line to fifth: Prince Charles is still first in line, Prince William is second, and Prince George is third and the new baby will be fourth.
