The Princess of Wales has shared a moving new video telling the world that she has finished with chemotherapy and has officially been declared cancer-free. However, Kate explains, her "path to healing and full recovery is long".

In the new post, shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' social channels and which shows the Wales family enjoying some quality time together in nature, the Princess narrates an update on her health situation now.

"As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment," the mother of three shares. "The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown."

Kate adds that cancer is a "complex, scary and unpredictable" journey, impacting not only the person who is unwell but their closest loved ones too.

Speaking incredibly candidly, the Princess added, "With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.

"This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved."

Looking to the future, the Princess also shared that she is still taking things slowly but that she is looking forward to resuming some more public facing duties over the coming months when she is able to.

"Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life," she said, before thanking the public for the support they have shown throughout this difficult period.

"Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling," she said. "To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright."

The Princess was first admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery back in January and later confirmed that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer. Since then, she has stepped away from her public duties to recover, rest and spend time with family, last being seen at Wimbledon this July.
