This morning, Kate Middleton, 41, surprised a group of elementary school students at the Chelsea Flower Show in London. And of course, the Princess of Wales had to use her go-to parenting move when it came time to interact with the kids at the event.
Princess Catherine (who donned a beautiful pink dress) made a special appearance at the first-ever garden picnic. Ten schools from the Royal Horticultural Society’s Campaign for School Gardening were invited to the show, which allows children to explore the joys of nature.
During the event, the royal princess conversed with some of the kids and ate lunch with them under a large oak tree. After that, Princess Kate walked with the students to view the outdoor kitchen at The Savills Garden, which was put together by RHS gold medalist Mark Gregory.

While Princess Catherine was interacting with the group of students, we had a chance to see the mother of three’s parenting skills in action. In a photo taken at the event, the royal can be seen bending down at eye level to talk to one of the students, a move which can level the playing field and help create open communication as well as a safe environment for the child to speak freely.

A 10-year-old girl named Romasia candidly talked about her love for gardening with the Princess of Wales. “We spoke about how fascinating it is to see how food grows,” she said, according to People. “We talked about strawberries and how it takes time for them to grow and how rewarding it is to eat them then.”
We love seeing the princess in parenting mode.
