Kate Middleton wears £15 floral-print face mask to visit baby bank
The Duchess of Cambridge has been continuing her face-to-face engagements – this time with a trip to a cause very close to her heart, yesterday afternoon.
Kate visited Sheffield-based baby bank, Baby Basics, to find out how they're supporting some of the UK's most vulnerable families during tough times.
While at the charity's HQ she helped unpack donations from 19 of the UK's major retailers, who have recently donated 10,000 items for families in crisis after a call out from Catherine, and spoke to some of the mothers who have accessed the service in recent months. They included women escaping domestic violence with their children and a mum with triplets who was struggling to cope.
Kate was at the forefront of the drive for donations having privately visited and volunteered at the Baby Basics bank in Norfolk – near where the Cambridges have been spending lockdown at Amner Hall. While there she learned of the charity's urgent need for supplies across all 40 of their baby banks. Retailers such as M&S, John Lewis, Sainsbury's, The White Company and JoJo Maman Bebe have all since got involved Kate's fundraising campaign.
Kate said: 'Over recent months, I have heard from families who have been supported by baby banks through the most difficult of times and I have been deeply moved by their stories. Having somewhere to turn to for support is important for all families, and baby banks work every day, up and down the country, to provide immediate, tangible and practical help for parents and carers when they are most in need.
'Baby banks are driven by incredible volunteers, demonstrating the power of community spirit in supporting families and coming together to raise the next generation. Thanks to the generosity of the companies taking part in this initiative, baby banks across the UK will be able to support even more families through this particularly challenging time.'
Arriving at the baby bank, Catherine wore a crisp, white shirt dress with black buttons by London label Suzannah along with a £15 Liberty-print face mask by Amaia London.
