We can't profess to have much in common with Kate Middleton on the surface of things (apart from a floral face mask and this Massimo Dutti skirt), which makes sense when you remember she's a Queen-in-waiting and a global figure.

But a photo, released on the Kensington Palace Instagram page, has lead us to believe that we have more in common than we think.

A sneak peek of the inside of Kate's Kensington Palace office posted to Instagram back in March — featuring her aesthetically pleasing book collection — initially gave us interiors envy. But more recently has been prompting followers to share how many of Kate’s favourite books they have read.

Though the book collection isn't extensive, it gives us a feel for the classics that the Duchess favours, including a series of classic romances and tales that point to by-gone eras.

So, how many have you read? We'll certainly be mentioning our mutual love of some of the below if we ever get to meet the Cambridge family.

Here is the full list of Kate Middleton's favourite reads:

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronté

Tess of the D’Ubervilles by Thomas Hardy

Middlemarch by George Elliot

Bleak House by Charles Dickens

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

The Sonnets and a Lover’s Complaint by William Shakespeare

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle

The Odyssey by Homer
