Kate, William and the kids were spotted out for a pub lunch

Heading out for a laidback family meal over the weekend is a scene most of us will be super familiar with, and it seems that despite their royal titles, packed schedules and heavy security, the Cambridge family enjoy a pub lunch just as much as the rest of us.

That's because over the weekend, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three royal children Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, were pictured tucking into some pub grub in their beloved Norfolk.

In the photo, the royal family can be seen sitting at a garden table, enjoying burgers and chips. In contrast to the more formal attire we're used to seeing them in, the Cambridges looked relaxed in jeans, t shirts and trainers.

The Sun reports that a witness noted how "down-to-earth the family were" and that they could have been mistaken for any other family.

“They were laughing and chatting and clearly enjoying each other’s company," the source said, adding: “There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family. Wills had a burger and chips."

The onlooker added the family had their pet dog, a spaniel, with them, and gave details of a familiar parent-child moment.

"There was one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot. William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out. It was fantastic to see," the source said.

It's perhaps little wonder the family feel so at ease dining out in Norfolk, as Prince William recently spoke about loving the area in a documentary commemorating the late Prince Philip.

After praising his late grandfather for always wanting to get stuck in himself when working on homes and estates, Prince William said Norfolk was the area that he and his family most wanted to be in. "For me, coming here and now living here, everything that he's done has led up to Catherine and I feeling that this is a part of the country we want to be in. We love this area, it feels like home, and that's because of what he's created," the Duke said.

Throughout lockdown, the Cambridges spent months in Anmer Hall in Norfolk, while homeschooling and working remotely via Zoom (sounds familiar?), and most recently there have been reports circulating that the couple are looking to move out of London – despite it being where Prince George and Princess Charlotte study at St Thomas's Prep School in Battersea. Anmer Hall would likely still be the favourite choice for the couple during the summer holidays and other breaks during term time.

Well, regardless, it's nice to see the family enjoying some relaxed quality time. Anyone else hungry for a pub lunch now?
