Kate Wright has clapped back at an online troll after receiving criticism for her lavish Christmas holiday in the Maldives with her fiancé Rio Ferdinand and his three children.

Former footballer and current BT Sport pundit Ferdinand posted a photo from their lavish holiday on his official Instagram, showing his family enjoying dinner at the underwater ‘5.8 Restaurant.’ Joking that he was ‘dribbling at this point’ many of his fans wrote well-wishing comments, but several criticised Wright for wearing a low cut dress.

One wrote, “Think Kate needs to dress appropriate cover up just a little bit you have young children” and another “Have some class and cover up Kate.”

However, it was another mean-spirited comment that prompted Wright to respond. The now deleted comment implied that the holiday was too over the top, to which Wright retaliated with:

“Money doesn’t make looking after three children that have lost their mum easier. Yes we can have nice holidays but money can’t bring back loved ones and heal grief. Looking after children and caring for them comes from the heart, not from the bank.”

The former TOWIE star has been in a relationship with Ferdinand since 2017, who tragically lost his wife, Rebecca Ellison to breast cancer in 2015. She was just 34-years-old. Ferdinand and Ellison had three children together, whom Wright is now helping to raise.

Ferdinand proposed to Wright in front of his children during another family holiday back in November. He proposed to her atop the St. Regis Abu Dhabi Hotel rooftop and he shared photos of the epic proposal on Instagram with the caption: “She said yes! How these 3 kids kept it secret I’ll never know!”
