Katherine Ryan has shared that there won't be another series of her Netflix show The Duchess.

“I think 10 million people watched it in 28 days and that wasn’t enough.

“But, also, I’m not terribly sad about it. It’s a whole lot of work, a whole lot of time for a sitcom. I was so grateful to able to make it, I kind of like the way it ended.”

The show saw the 37-year-old play a single mother deciding whether or not to have another child with the father of her daughter.

Speaking after The Duchess' release, Ryan said she regretted writing herself into a sex scene for the programme.

In an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show she said: “I felt like you needed to believe in the intimacy of that relationship, so I wrote a sex scene. I just figured it would be fine.

“It’s so cringe and it takes so long and I’m unprofessional. I just found it difficult.

“I think it would have been easier to have full sex on camera – then I could really let loose and show my personality… But no, I won’t be writing any more sex scenes ever again.”
