Kathy Hilton is shedding happy tears over her grandson Phoenix.
The 64-year-old got emotional as she opened up about meeting daughter Paris Hilton’s 1-year-old son for the first time on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday.
“So beautiful,” Kathy said as she broke down in tears after joining Paris, 42, on the couch. “It’s a happy time.”
Kathy explained that she “couldn’t believe it” when she was surprised with the news of her daughter's first born’s arrival — especially because she thought she would be receiving a puppy or monkey as a holiday gift from Paris after losing her dog at the time.

“I mean, I could not believe it,” the mom of two said, before sharing details on latest get-together with her grandson. “And just to look at him last night in the crib. He is so long, and big and he’s getting hair and just smiles.”
“It’s really something to have my first baby having her first baby and now with London,” Kathy added, referring also to 10-week-old granddaughter London Marilyn. “We have Irish twins!”
The grandmother also mentioned that she would like her youngest grandchildren to call her 'Kiki,' a nickname given to her by her sisters “when they couldn’t say ‘Kathy,’ ” she explained.
Paris shared on the show that she was “really nervous” about introducing Phoenix to his grandmother after welcoming her son via surrogate last year.
“Just to surprise someone with something like that was quite the surprise," she explained. “I am full of surprises but that was on another level. But it was just so emotional too, just such a special moment."
Looking back, Kathy said she understood her daughter’s decision to keep the news a secret.
“You’re giving respect to, as far as privacy, I think when you have surrogates it’s protecting them from, God forbid, one person tells one person and then,” she said. “I knew that eventually this was in the process but I didn’t know when.”

"We’d been keeping that a secret for so long, hard to keep in,” Paris said. “But they have just brought so much love and happiness to my life. My life feels so complete. Just every morning, just seeing their smiles. It just lights up my world.”
Elsewhere on the show, Paris opened up about Phoenix's 1st birthday party plans, sharing that the milestone celebration will be taking place this weekend with “a petting zoo” and a “ball pit and slides” included.
“I know he’s only one but all the parents are coming and there will be some older kids as well. It will be fun for all ages over at the house. It’s going to be really sweet,” the DJ and heiress said.
Paris and husband Carter Reum welcomed Phoenix in January 2023. The couple later made the surprising announcement of the arrival of their second child, daughter London, via surrogate in November 2023.
