Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks newcomer Katie McGlynn will soon be appearing on screen as Becky.
Previously, Katie played another major character on a soap, starring in Coronation Street for a number of years as Sinead Osbourne.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Katie explained that her new role is "massively" different from her days on the cobbles, adding that she's "enjoying" it so far.
"Oh, massively, yes and that was my main concern. I didn't want her to be like Sinead and she isn't. Who would want to keep playing the same character? Becky's fun to play so far, I'm enjoying it," she explained.
Katie also mentioned that while some actors don't want to go from one soap to another, she doesn't mind, adding that she used to watch Hollyoaks when growing up.
Explaining why she's happy to join the Cheshire-based soap, Katie said: "Some actors do have that fear of going to another soap, they don't want to get typecast – but I just want to work!
"I've always enjoyed Hollyoaks, I remember watching it growing up, and it has such brilliant and relevant storylines."
When viewers meet Becky, the young mum, they see her befriend Diane at the hospital. Katie explained that the new mums both give birth on the same day and that's how they meet.
Speaking about how Becky will take advantage of Diane's vulnerability, Katie said: "Obviously Diane has mental health issues with her OCD, and Becky spots that.
"Although she's a nice person, she can be manipulative, and is on the hunt for a companion, as she's lonely. She notices Diane's vulnerability, and asks a lot of awkward questions, then gives her a shoulder to lean on."
Hollyoaks will be airing Becky's debut in the week commencing Monday, July 5 on Channel 4 and E4.
