There’s no denying that Katie Piper is a seriously inspiring woman, with the TV presenter and activist bravely sharing her medical journey with the public after she was the victim of an acid attack in 2008.

However, the star’s latest Instagram post is a stark reminder of just how far she has come in eight short years, with Katie posting a throwback to one of her darkest days.

In the snap Katie looks sad as she lays on the sofa and cuddles up to a pet dog, the mum-of-one captioned the pic with: “A throw back for anyone who is going through any kind of treatment or recovery - this is me sulking on my mums sofa with my dog a few years ago.

"Hang on in there things do move forward, stay focused and ride out those down days.”

Fans were quick to comment their support, writing: “You have amazing strength Katie and the world is privileged you have chosen to share it with us all. You are helping so many others. Truly inspirational.

"Honestly you are a true inspiration to any girl you have overcome so much.

"Your bravery and strength is something I think about when I go through a dark patch and it inspires me to keep going no matter what.”

Katie’s ex-boyfriend Danny Lynch and his accomplice Stefan Sylvestre are both serving life sentences for orchestrating the brutal attack, which saw the 32-year-old have all of the skin from her face removed before it was rebuilt with a skin substitute and skin graft.

Even all these years later Katie is suffering with health problems and has regular hospital appointments and operations, but the star has thankfully found happiness with her husband James Sutton and their young daughter, Belle.

Needless to say, there is absolutely no doubt that Katie is a true inspiration.
