The Mum-of-five revealed her plans on today’s Loose Women where she said that she has even been in contact with some adoption agencies overseas.

Addressing talk that her plans are all one publicity stunt, the 38-year-old shut down the claims, snapping:

“You cannot adopt a child for press, there are lots of things I can do if I want publicity - but I wouldn’t adopt a child for that reason. That’s a human being!”

"I’ve said for years that I want to adopt and now is the right time.”

She added: “How can I be criticised for wanting to give a child a home? These people moaning, why don’t you adopt!”

The former glamour model said that she’s decided she’d rather adopt a newborn instead of an older child, explaining that her decision was based on what’s best for her family.

“If I were to have a five or seven-year-old, I would worry about the kid having problems,” she explained. “I wouldn’t want that to affect my kids.

"Not a physical disability but any behavioural issues.”

Katie then revealed that an orphanage in Bulgaria had been in touch with her to discuss her plans.

However, while she may be sold on the idea, Katie is yet to convince her husband, Kieran Hayler.

“Right now, he doesn’t understand why I want to adopt because I can still have my own children. But I have eleven bedrooms in my house and they need to be filled,” she said.
