Katie Price has revealed the horrific incident that left her family pet dying in the street, after a hit-and-run.

The Loose Women presenter was heartbroken as she posted photos of her beloved German Shepherd, Queenie, after she passed away.

Only, the nature of the death of her dog, as she described, was far more distressing than a pet simply passing away.

‘I’m absolutely devastated,’ she said to her 1.8 million followers. She followed up: ‘heartbroken my faithful loving family dogs life Queenie has been shortened as she was killed by a heartless delivery driver who ran into our dog seeing her struggle and drove off without telling us and left her to die very disappointed a human being can be this heartless ! Security cameras show this and we have reported to police ! DEVASTATED is a understatement’.

In the caption, Katie, 39, said that her dog has been ran over by a delivery driver who failed to stop. With the incident apparently caught on CCTV, she’s already reported the crime to the police to hunt down the culprit.

Commenters flooded her Instagram to offer support and well wishes. Words such as ‘This is heartbreaking I’m so sorry xx’, ‘This is awful so sorry for your loss ‘, and ‘Thats horrendous. How disgusting. So sorry lovely’ littered the post.

She went on to post a further three photos of Queenie, as a means of expressing her sorrow.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sooo gutted I’ve lost Queenie !

In the UK it is a legal requirement to report to the police if you run over a dog, under the 1988 Road Traffic Act, which carries a maximum fine of £5,000. The reduced (and likely) punishment when running over an animal can carry a more lenient sentence of 25-175% of a person’s weekly wage and up to six points on their license.

Katie is rarely out of the headlines, having been accused of showing CBB audiences explicit photos of ex-husband Alex Reid and reportedly threatening to ‘destroy’ him.
