Katie Price and Kerry Katona are set to star together for the first time since they appeared in the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! jungle in 2004. The friends first appeared on our TV screens together 20 years ago and now they will headline their first Christmas pantomime in Northwich.

The pair will play the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella this Christmas from December 8 until New Year’s Eve. Speaking to the ECHO, Katie and Kerry told us it was a dream “come true” to be back together and they can’t wait to "spend Christmas together."

Kerry said: “I don't know how we’ve not worked together before, the only thing we've ever done was the jungle and that was 21 years ago in February.” Katie said: “Where has that time gone? We keep saying we should do TV together.”

The pair will be playing the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella this year, however, Katie and Kerry say they will just be playing an extended version of “themselves.” Kerry Katona told the ECHO: “Basically we're playing a really extended version of ourselves, we bounce off each other naturally. That's 25 years of friendship.”

They say the key to playing this role is their ability to laugh with each other, Kerry added: “We have been dragged down. We haven’t helped ourselves at times, but we are very good at being able to take the p*** out of ourselves before anyone else can and I think it's very important that we can do that.

"In this day and age, people get so offended so easily and quickly so it’s important that you're able to laugh at yourself because I think laughter is a great healing mechanism. It's important to laugh. It’s not about how many times you fall, it's about how many times you can get back up and if we can show everyone in the audience that at Christmas time then we're happy to do that.”

She added: “Me and Kate are perceived in a light that isn’t very kind but we are both professional people. Kate is amazing to work with. We have a wonderful team here and you get to work with one of your mates at Christmas time.”

The friends have always done everything together and say their lives have “lined up” from being pregnant together with Princess and Heidi, to then being pregnant with Bunny and DJ and then their marriages and divorces. Kerry calls it a “superpower,” saying: “We don’t know what's coming next, that's the superpower of ADHD, mix it up with bipolar and you have a car crash."

She continued: “Our lives mirror each other but not that much mirror because she is older. She might look younger but that's the surgeon and I'll be following in her footsteps because she forced me to get an eye lift. And then she looked at my boobies and said ‘When are you getting them done?’ I said I'm not, then Heidi, my own daughter said ‘Mum you going to get a boob job?’ I said I wasn't but now you and Kate have said, I'm thinking about it.”

Katie added: “We are like matching, 'unbiological' sisters. It’s mad. And now you're absolutely minted and I'm following you getting minted again."

Reminiscing about their time on I'm A Celebrity, Katie and Kerry said they have a proposal for ITV to get their respective daughters, Princess and Heidi, in the jungle. Kerry said: “That is my aim.” Katie agreed: “They would be good. They should do Love Island. I think the jungle would be iconic. The kids should do it. Or, imagine the four of us in panto, Junior could play the prince, Harvey could be Buttons, and he would get all the crowd going.”

Katie said working with her dear friend is a dream “come true,” She said: “Doing it with Kerry is like a dream come true. You get to be with your friends and spend Christmas together. Panto can be a lonely place. It's lonely at Christmas when you’re away from the family. Kerry is like a part of my family anyway and being up here I'm away from my home, having Kerry here with her family is nice. Just being together will be nice."

Kerry added: “I knew she was up here last Christmas and I said to Kate ' Why don't you come to mine for new year so you're not in a hotel?.’ So Kate and all the kids came, except Harvey because of course he couldn’t come and it was great. We’re excited to spend Christmas together this year, she's going to cook.”
