Katie Price has candidly discussed her drug-related shame and "major breakdown" in a recent heartfelt interview. In September 2021, Katie, 46, was urgently taken to hospital following a car crash while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The former glamour model has now opened up about her struggles over the past few years. During an appearance on Westlife singer Nicky Byrne's new podcast, Katie revealed: "I've been diagnosed with severe ADHD. I remember the doctor saying to me, because obviously he knew I'd done [cocaine]... I'm like, 'I just go completely quiet and shut down'. He said, 'That's a major sign of someone with ADHD."

Nicky, 46, asked: "At one point you were the most famous person in Britain. How does it sit with you now?" To which Katie responded: "In our industry, if I don't turn up for work nobody can replace me. You sort of just get on with it and you don't deal with what's happened. It got to a point where I had a major breakdown, ended up in The Priory twice, five weeks at a time, and then I self medicated on coke."

Katie further added: "I've been through so much and I've come out the other end." The mother-of-five has previously spoken about the night of her car crash and the events leading up to it.

In her latest autobiography This Is Me, Katie confessed she'd "had some friends round for a few hours". She wrote: "One of them had some coke on them and, yes, I had a little bit of it, probably a couple of lines, it wasn't even a lot. I had some alcohol too."

Katie has claimed it was a heart-wrenching call from her 17 year old daughter Princess - shared with former spouse Peter Andre - that spurred her to get into her car. Katie revealed: "I could tell she was upset so I asked her what was wrong. My daughter was ringing to tell me she wasn't allowed to see me and my heart just broke."

Admitting her judgement was clouded, Katie shared: "I needed to go right that minute and I didn't care that it was 2am. I didn't care about anything anymore."

Avoiding jail time for the incident, Katie received a suspended 16-week prison sentence for one year, was mandated 100 hours of community service, and instructed to complete 20 rehab sessions.
