Katie Price has been taken to hospital with an eye injury following an alleged attack.

Police and paramedics were called to the incident at an Essex property, with Essex Police confirming a man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently being held in custody.

In a statement, they said (via OK!): "We were called by colleagues in the ambulance service to reports of an assault shortly after 1.30am this morning, Monday 23 August.

"We arrived and found a woman had sustained a facial injury which required hospital treatment. A 32-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody."

They added in a further statement: "Our investigations are continuing at the scene today."

Price is a mum to five children, including son Harvey who has a number of disabilities including autism and genetic disorder Prader-Willi syndrome.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner, who also has children Junior and Princess from her marriage to Peter Andre, and Jett and Bunny from her marriage to Kieran Hayler, defended her decision to put Harvey into residential care

"He's six foot two, 24 stone and still growing," she said on This Morning. "My house is smashed to bits. He's gone through eight iPads this year, four tellies, it's his trigger points. If someone slams the door [he lashes out] and that's it."

She continued: "People don't understand the situation, with Harvey, he wouldn't go to school because I said I was going to work and he wanted to come with me. He thinks I'm at the shop getting him a carbonara, it's the only way to get him out the door.

"So he wouldn't go to school because he's kicked off, it's so hard now. Even at night time, he's like a newborn. He goes in the kids' rooms and wakes them up."
