Skins' Kaya Scodelario has nabbed the lead role in Netflix figure skating drama Spinning Out .

It was reported back in October that American Horror Story actress Emma Roberts had landed the lead role, but according to TVLine, scheduling conflicts have opened the ice rink doors for Scodelario to step in.

The series follows Kat Baker, a naturally gifted skater who suffers a terrible fall which threatens to end her career on the ice. She then partners up with a "talented, bad-boy partner" and becomes a pairs skater.

"On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream," read an official release from Netflix.

Spinning Out is the brainchild of former competitive figure skater Samantha Stratton, who most recently worked on the Stephen King TV adaptation Mr Mercedes.

90210's Lara Olsen will serve as a co-showrunner and executive producer on the 10-episode drama.

Elsewhere on the streaming giant's agenda, a collection of Roald Dahl stories are set to be adapted for an animated series.

"Immersing ourselves in the extraordinary worlds of Roald Dahl stories has been an honour and a massive amount of fun, and we are grateful for the trust the Roald Dahl Story Company and the Dahl family have placed in our team to deliver more moments of shared joy to families around the world," said Melissa Cobb, vice president of kids and family content at Netflix.
