Keeley Hawes praised by viewers for her incredible performance in ITV's Honour
Keeley Hawes has been lauded by viewers for her powerful performance in ITV's devastating drama Honour.
The Bodyguard star plays DCI Caroline Goode in the two-part series, which follows Goode's investigation into the real-life, so-called honour killing of 20-year-old Banaz Mahmod in 2006.
Banaz, who was an Iraqi Kurd from Mitcham, south London, was brutally murdered by members of her family after she divorced her abusive husband and began a relationship with someone of her own choosing.
DCI Goode brought the murderers to justice after Banaz was failed by police who dismissed her complaints about having her life threatened by family members.
Viewers praised Keeley and the series for sensitively handling such an important issue.
One wrote: "What's brilliant is that @Misskeeleyhawes has played a police officer several times in TV drama, but each portrayal is so completely different from the last. Always unique performances."
Another added: "That was an emotional hour. Keeley Hawes sublime as always."
Keeley Hawes is a phenomenal actor, the amount of emotion she holds in her expressions. Also love the analyst in this; no one ever thinks about the analysts who piece things together for police. The cinematography is great too. #Honour

Keeley, who also serves as executive producer through her production company Buddy Club, recently told press that she hopes her drama can bring the issue of honour-based violence against women to the mainstream.
"I think if one girl or woman doesn't have to go through what Banaz had to go through then it's a success," the Durrells star said.
"One of my reasons for doing it and the thing that I held onto is shining a light so-called – I hate to use the word honour – it's murder, it's rape, it's abuse – shining a light on all of those things is something we can use our work to do and I think in this case certainly incredibly worthwhile."
Honour concludes tonight (Tuesday, 29 September) on ITV at 9pm.
