I keep returning to this Walton Vale takeaway because of one condiment
In my opinion north Liverpool can often be overlooked when it comes to places to eat. And while roads like Walton Vale may not have the quirky and attractive reputation of other areas such as Lark Lane, it doesn’t mean they have less to offer.
In fact, my favourite takeaway sits on Walton Vale. I’ve had more than my fair share of pizza and kebabs in the city centre after nights out but nothing has come close to a Ranchers Chicken takeaway yet. Serving burgers, wraps, chicken and pizza, Ranchers has always been my go to for an end of week treat.

My order is always pizza and I much prefer a greasy takeaway pizza to restaurant style pizzas. I have no reason to switch up my order as I enjoy my regular one too much. My usual order is a 9'' pizza meal deal with a choice of 3 toppings, fries and a drink which I find is just the perfect portion size. Donner meat, chicken and sweetcorn is an excellent combination- trust me. This deal is priced at £8.99.
My partner opts for a chicken burger whenever we order and the chicken is always crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. They have many chicken options with a huge variety of burgers and strikingly similar to KFC, even a boneless banquet type menu.
Their pizza menu is impressive and they even offer customers a baked bean special pizza. One thing that sets this takeaway apart from others is its salt. If you are unaware of what red salt is, you need to try it.
Red salt is mostly paprika, tomato powder and salt. It makes otherwise very ordinary chips taste amazing. The takeaway aren’t shy with how much they use and they offer generous portions of chips to enjoy it with. You’ll never look back once you’ve tried it for the first time. Ranchers Chicken is located on Walton Vale but they have branches in Bootle and Birkenhead too.
I'm not alone with my opinion of Ranchers, former ECHO journalist Ellen Kirwin praised it as 'better than KFC' back in March. She said: "In my opinion you get more chips for your money at Ranchers, and the heavenly addition of their famous red salt.
"The red salt enhances the Ranchers experience, and while it may leave you reaching for your drink more often throughout the night, it's highly addictive and moreish."
