Keira Knightley stuns as she receives OBE at Buckingham Palace

Keira Knightley has received an OBE for her services to drama and charity, in an investiture ceremony held at Buckingham Palace.

The actress arrived at the palace this morning, and posed for photos with her husband James Righton, father Will Knightley and mother Sharman Macdonald.

Knightley, who was named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list earlier this year, wore a lemon yellow Chanel suit for the occasion, paired with a matching hat and a white shirt with a black ribbon detail. She was presented with the honour by Prince Charles.

The 33-year-old’s breakout role came in the 2002 comedy Bend It Like Beckham, which she followed up with appearances in Love Actually, King Arthur and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

She has become a mainstay of British costume dramas, thanks to a string of roles in films such as Atonement, Pride & Prejudice and The Duchess.

Knightley earned her first Oscar nomination for best actress in a leading role in 2005, when she was recognised for her performance as Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Prejudice. She has since received a further nomination for her supporting role in 2014’s The Imitation Game.

Her latest film, Colette, is set to be released in the UK on January 25, 2019, and tells the true story of ground-breaking French author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, who spent her career fighting to regain credit for her novels after her husband passed them off as his own work.

The star was joined at the palace by fellow actor Timothy Bentinck, who received an MBE for services to drama, Royal Ballet director Kevin O’Hare, who received a CBE for services to dance, and singer Ms Dynamite (whose real name is Niomi McLean-Daley), who received an MBE for services to music.

Director Peter Greenaway, former cricketer Steve Elworthy, publisher Liz Calder and artist Lubaina Himid also received honours at today’s ceremony.
