Kelly Brook has admitted she was left in shock at the harsh reality of Celebrity Race Across The World after watching Harry Judd and his mum sewing on a train ride in season one.

Brook is taking part in the new series, which travels through South America, with her husband Jeremy Parisi and has been shown struggling with budget accommodation and long bus journeys.

The former glamour model told Loose Women she had been lulled into a false sense of security by watching much gentler scenes in the first run of the BBC One celebrity series.

Celebrity Race Across The World viewers were left commenting that Brook didn't appear to have seen the show before as she struggled in the series debut with sticking to a budget and enduring long bus journeys.

But the former glamour model told Loose Women the truth on Tuesday - she actually had watched season one, and had expected a much gentler ride after watching Harry Judd and his mum Emma doing crafts and drinking coffee on train rides through Europe.

She admitted she had been shocked by the much tougher experience she and Jeremy Parisi had on their journey from northern Brazil to southern Chile, which involved full days and nights on a bus as they struggled to save money.

Asked by the Loose Women whether it was tougher than expected, Brook recalled scenes from season one of McFly drummer Harry Judd trying out cross stitch to while away a train journey, as his mum Emma got out her knitting.

She said: "We sat and watched the last celebrity series and we watched Harry Judd and his mum on a train going through Europe, which was probably six hours, she's knitting, he's having a coffee and I said Jeremy, it's not going to be that bad.

"Cut to us in South America on a bus for 26 hours - imagine 200 people on one toilet on a bus, it is grim."

In an interview ahead of filming the show, Brook admitted the moments she thought would be tough. She said: "We like air conditioning when we get to a hotel, we like a minibar, we like an airport transfer, and all of those things are just going to be completely removed. But then when we're actually in a place."

The model admitted she will miss her beauty routine too. She added: "I’ll miss my beauty routine. I’ve tried to bring lotions and potions with me, but its so heavy, I’ve got like 4kg worth of make-up and serum, and I just know I’m going to have to whittle that down to hardly anything. 4kg is a lot when you’re carrying it on your back."

After episode one, some viewers also accused Brook of bossing around husband Parisi - but she revealed their real dynamic was the opposite.

Speaking on Loose Women, she said: "The mad thing is that I'm quite a dominant character, I'm very loud, I want to be heard, but Jeremy was the one quietly in control of the whole thing. Even if I ranted and screamed and cried - and I did everything, trust me, to get a room upgrade - if I wanted to go to the loo I had to ask him for 10 pesos.

"I had very little say over the money, I wasn't really in charge of that. Jeremy was the calculator and I was the compass, that's how we worked it."

Loose Women airs on ITV1 at 12.30pm on weekdays.
