Kelly Clarkson Responds After Valerie Bertinelli Shuts Down Body-Shamer With One Perfect Tweet
Valerie Bertinelli took an opportunity to spread a positive message after noticing a crude comment on social media about her appearance.
"Awwww, so chubby," the comment read.
The actress's upbeat and positive response has inspired hundreds of fans, including Kelly Clarkson, who shared Bertinelli's message as well.
Many of Valerie Bertinelli's fans associate the 59-year-old actress and current Food Network host with her upbeat personality. After all, the former One Day at a Time star has been quite vocal about her dedication to uplifting others; she previously shared her personal motto "choose happy" in a tell-all essay published by NBC's TODAY, which also documented her struggle with her health and, more specifically, her weight. But even when presented with a condescending, harsh, and just plain rude comment about her appearance, Bertinelli proved once again that she has a firm grasp on leading by example — this time, on Twitter in front of hundreds of thousands of her fans.
Wow. Someone is always there to remind me to tidy up my negative thoughts some more. Thank you for reminding me I’m so much more than my body. Have a blessed day. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/453f6P3MFG

When she saw a viewer reply to a Food Network tweet about one of her upcoming episodes of Valerie's Home Cooking ("Awwww, so chubby," it read), Bertinelli took the opportunity to respond directly. "Wow. Someone is always there to remind me to tidy up my negative thoughts some more," she wrote in a tweet. "Thank you for reminding me I'm so much more than my body. Have a blessed day."
While her words of wisdom inspired many of her followers to comment, Valerie's polished response to this vitriol inspired fellow television host Kelly Clarkson to share her thoughts as well. It appears that Clarkson, who has had to respond to comments on her own image many times, also believes in employing positivity to cut through all the unwarranted criticism. "True power is recognizing the projection of others negatively & punching it square [in] the face w/all the positive, remarkable, intelligent, beautiful light that seeps from [your] pores," Clarkson wrote in another tweet. "Pity people that speak ill of others because while some of us [are] dancing, the others [are] too afraid."

Rapidly approaching her 60th birthday, Bertinelli has previously shared that she's as much committed to making healthy choices in the kitchen as she is when it comes to mental health. And this public display of her principles have only reminded her fans just how inspiring her outlook truly is.
I enjoy your food shows, your cookbooks, your politics, your sports and humor. Ignore unpleasant people. You make the world smile.

And look how nice you are to cross out their name so they don’t get pummeled, which they would have deserved (because you did not). Stay classy Valerie!! Positivity is contagious and we need it right now.❤️

When they go low, you go high. That must be an angry person, to feel the need to be so rude. Keep on being wonderful you!

Beauty comes from the inside. You my friend are beautiful inside and out. The person who wrote that comment needs to give her insides a makeover!
