Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle stabbing: Aaron McKenzie appears in court accused of killing pregnant woman and baby

A man accused of killing a pregnant woman and her baby son has appeared in court.

Aaron McKenzie is charged with murdering Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle in Thornton Heath, London.

He is also accused of killing her son, who was delivered by paramedics at the scene of the stabbing but died in hospital four days later.

Mr McKenzie appeared at Camberwell Magistrates' Court charged with murder, manslaughter and knife possession on Monday.

The 25-year-old, of Peckham Park Road in Peckham, confirmed his name, date of birth and British nationality but did not give his address during the brief hearing.

District Judge Karim Ezzat remanded Mr McKenzie in custody before a bail hearing at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.

He will then appear at the same court on 12 August. No pleas were entered.

Ms Fauvrelle, a 26-year-old postal worker, was eight months pregnant when she was stabbed to death in her bedroom on the ground floor of her family home.

Relatives including her mother, two brothers, sister and sister's baby son were in the property at the time.

They were alerted by the sound of Ms Fauvrelle's screams at 3.30am on 29 June.

The family named her son Riley after he was delivered at the scene, but the baby remained in a critical condition in hospital until he died on 3 July.
