Kelsea Ballerini parted ways with trainer after burning out from 'punishing' workout routine

Kelsea Ballerini parted ways with her personal trainer after their "punishing" workout routine left her feeling burnt out.

The 31-year-old country star enlisted the help of a high-profile personal trainer, who had worked with "a lot of the really hot country girls", when her star began to rise in her mid-20s.

They developed a workout routine that featured four or five strength-training sessions a week, but after five years of the gruelling programme, Kelsea decided it wasn't for her and they parted ways professionally.

"It almost felt like I was punishing myself to become what I thought I was supposed to be, visually, in my industry," she told Women's Health of her former routine.

The singer stopped working out altogether for a while before trying different forms of exercise.

She eventually settled upon the Lagree Method, a high-intensity, low-impact workout based on an apparatus called a Megaformer.

"I do it as much as I can," Kelsea said of the class. "I love how it makes me feel doing it - I feel strong. Having a good relationship with how I'm moving my body has changed everything for me."

The Half of My Hometown hitmaker jokingly noted that she is "proud" of the butt she's sculpted from going to the class three to four times a week as well as walking her dogs.
