Ken Livingstone has added fuel to the fire of the row in which the Labour party is currently embroiled, by calling for anti-Corbyn MPs including Wes Streeting and Chuka Umunna to be suspended.

In his tirade to BBC Radio 5's Emma Barnett he repeated his controversial comments about Hitler, which he first made in April of last year, as he called for a dozen Labour MPs to be suspended.

The former Mayor of London said: "Those that have been most over the top I think should be suspended.

"I think the other thing that Jeremy should do is re-introduce automatic re-selection. It’s really ridiculous that MPs in safe seats have a job for life ... I’m particularly talking about Chuka Umunna, Wes Streeting - basically it’s the same group of MPs who were screaming that I’d said Hitler was a Zionist and I was anti-semitic.

"The moment that issue went on hold, they were then blaming Jeremy for Britain voting to leave. Just endless criticism.

"It’s only about a dozen of them. The simple fact is they are consciously undermining Jeremy and damaging the Labour party."

Wes Streeting MP has already responded to Mr Livingstone's comments, saying: "I won't be taking any lectures in loyalty from Ken Livingstone. I'm not sure why he hasn't yet been expelled from Labour."

Many took to social media to suggest Mr Livingstone had dragged out his anti-semitism scandal for almost a year, by mentioning it on various television and radio appearances.

Leading figures in the Labour Party have been at each other's throats recently, after it was alleged the far-Left group Momentum was seeking to seize permanent control of the party.

Earlier this week, the Unite union leader Len McCluskey accused Labour's deputy leader Tom Watson of living in a "world of skulduggery, smears and secret plots", as Labour descended into further chaos.

The Unite union leader made the comments as Labour found itself in a state of civil war amid accusations of a hard-Left "plot" to take over the party.

Mr Watson warned that the future of Labour was at risk over claims that a campaign group which backs Jeremy Corbyn is planning to officially link with the Mr McCluskey's union.
