Kendall Jenner 10 Year Challenge: Model posts defiant throwback after acne backlash

Kendall Jenner took on the 10 Year Challenge as she made a defiant stand against the backlash over her recent acne cream endorsement.

Jenner was criticised for telling fans she would be making a “raw” and “personal” announcement earlier this month, only to reveal she is the new face of skin care range ProActiv.

Jenner has now opened up about her “debilitating” struggle with acne after posting a picture of herself to show off the severity of the condition.

She captioned the shot: “#10yearchallenge I was 13 and ran home crying every day because people would stare at my skin.”

The reality star-turned-model also penned an emotional post about how the ongoing condition has affected her life, telling fans she has been left “anxious, helpless and insecure”.

She wrote: “While there are much bigger problems happening in the world, suffering from acne for me was debilitating. It’s something that I’ve dealt with since I was a young teen and has caused me to feel anxious, helpless and insecure.

Jenner posted the message alongside a black and white no make-up selfie in a bid to “open up a dialogue around skin positivity” for her young fans.

“Being insecure about my acne gave me thick skin but I wouldn’t ever wish that feeling upon anyone so after trying countless options, I found something that has been helpful in maintaining clear skin for me,” she continued.

“It’s been a long journey but I’m excited for where my skin is now. I didn’t think I’d see the day where I would feel confident posting a makeup free picture. My goal is to open up a dialogue around skin positivity.”

Jenner sparked a backlash from fans over her ProActiv advert after her mother, or ‘momager’, Kris Jenner teased that her “brave and vulnerable daughter” would be sharing a “personal” announcement.

She was then trolled by fans who claimed old interviews with her sister Khloe Kardashian appear to suggest she credited the family dermatologist Christie Kidd for “curing” her sister’s acne – not ProActiv.
