A business owner in Kenosha, Wisconsin, broke down in tears on August 25 after seeing the still-smoldering building that housed her family’s furniture store following riots in the city the previous night.
Video recorded by Town Hall reporter Julio Rosas shows Linda Carpenter and her son Scott looking at the damaged store before she becomes overwhelmed. Town Hall reported that the Carpenters’ store B & L Office Furniture “had been in business for over 40 years.”
Scott Carpenter said in the video, “It’s not justifiable. We have insurance, but the insurance isn’t there so somebody can destroy your things. We pay for it. It causes insurance rates to go up. It’s basically theft. Whoever did this stole from us.” Credit: Julio Rosas/Townhall.com via Storyful
