Kern’s Flower Scarab Filmed Feeding on Pollen at Abilene State Park, Texas

Photographer Bryce Finkeldei captured a video of a Kern’s flower scarab feeding on pollen from a cactus flower at Texas’s Abilene State Park, on May 18.

These beetles can be found in fields and meadows all over Texas, particularly in early spring. It is not uncommon to see 10 or more beetles in a flower cup feeding on the pollen and nectar, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife. Credit: Bryce Finkeldei via Storyful
