Kerry Washington misses UnPrisoned premiere with COVID-19

Kerry Washington missed the premiere of 'UnPrisoned' season two after testing positive for COVID-19.

The 47-year-old actress stayed at home on Tuesday (16.07.24) instead of joining her co-stars on the red carpet in New York City after contracting the virus, and admitted she was jealous not to be there celebrating.

Sharing a make-up free selfie, in which she covered her face with her hands, Kerry wrote on Instagram: "Soooooooooo I have COVID and I won’t be able to make it to the @unprisonedhulu season 2 premiere tonight in NYC.

"I’m not sure what’s worse right now, being sick with COVID or being sick with FOMO [crying face emoji].

"I love our Unprisoned family so much and I am INSANELY proud of and EXCITED about Season 2!

"I cannot believe I’m not there tonight to celebrate our amazing cast + crew! (sic)"

The former 'Scandal' star admitted she had cried about missing the screening but was planning a "watch party" for the show's premiere on Wednesday (17.07.24) instead.

She added: "But after shedding waaaay too many tears, I decided to gather everything I need for a legitimate watch party (except its cranberry juice because it’s very high in vit C!) and I guess I’ll be watching it on HULU tomorrow with YOU!

"YAY!!!!! I know you’re going to loooooooove it! XOXOXOX K #TryingToStayPositiveWhileWaitingToBeNegative (sic)"

The Hulu drama series centres around the relationship between Kerry's character Paige Alexander and her previously-incarcerated father Edwin (Delroy Lindo).

And the former 'Scandal' star recently teased audiences can expect season two to show the relationship therapist confront her own intimacy issues in the aftermath of her viral TED talk from the season one finale.

She told People magazine: “Paige is now dealing with the reality of trying to be who she wants to be, which was the thesis of her TED talk, because it’s easier to ‘talk the talk’ than ‘walk the walk’ sometimes.

“I think who you want to be can be a moving target.”
