Kerry Washington Is Now Officially an Emmy Winner (& It’s So Well-Deserved)

When Washington heard the good news, she reacted on her Instagram Story and gave a shoutout to her production company, Simpson Street, which she launched in 2016. She wrote, "OMG. So proud of @simpsonstreet and this incredible cast and crew! #liveinfrontofastudioaudience."

This year, the former Scandal star secured a total of four Emmy nominations. Aside from Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Washington is also nominated as an executive producer on both Little Fires Everywhere (Outstanding Limited Series) and American Son (Outstanding Television Movie). For her role as Mia Warren in Little Fires Everywhere, the star is also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie.

After learning about her four Emmy nominations (three of which are included in Simpson Street's 10 nominations), Kerry reacted with a lengthy and heartfelt post on Instagram. She wrote, "True story…I am giving you all the 'I LOVE YOU SO MUCH' knock today. To everyone who watched @littlefireshulu, American Son and Live In Front of a Studio Audience, thank you. To everyone who fell in love with these characters and identified with the stories, and to everyone who worked on these shows and put their FULL hearts and souls into making something brilliant and important…thank you."

Congratulations to the ever-talented Kerry on her first Emmy win!
