It's been a bit of a bumpy ride for the Tremors reboot, but now the TV adaptation of the cult classic movie has officially landed a pilot order at Syfy.

So we can finally start preparing for more jumps, scares and mysterious deaths in the town of Perfection, Nevada again.

Nearly 30 years after the Kevin Bacon-starring film was first released in 1990, Bacon will be back as repairman Valentine McKee attempting to save his town again.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that the drama will be executive produced by horror producer Jason Blum (you may have heard of some his projects... Insidious? The Purge? Paranormal Activity?), while The Secret Circle's Andrew Miller will write the pilot script and serve as showrunner.

The publication adds that the revival will pick up 25 years after the events of the film, which saw Bacon's character fighting giant, worm-like monsters who eat human flesh, and will follow Valentine as he attempts to save the town again while also battling age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.

"This is the only character I've played that I've ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years?" Bacon said in a Syfy release

"Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let's kick some Graboid ass!"

The pilot order comes just a month after Kevin Bacon told Digital Spy that the TV reboot wasn't dead.

"We're still chipping away at that! I can honestly say it's not dead yet," he said.

And despite Tremors continuing for six movies and two other TV shows since the first film (none of which starred Kevin), it's thought that the new series will ignore everything that came after it.

"The thing is, to me what's interesting about that guy is that he was doing nothing, working as a handyman," Kevin continued.

"And then because of this extraordinary circumstance, he gets to become a hero! So, what happens after you've become an accidental hero? 25 years later. And that's the thing we want to explore in this series."
