Oscar winner, Kevin Spacey, is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police over a second sex assault allegation in London, it has emerged.

The 58-year-old, who spent a decade as artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in Lambeth,  was already the subject of an inquiry by Scotland Yard, following an allegation that he forced himself on a man at his flat in 2008.

But now the Metropolitan Police has said it is investigating the same man over a claim dating back to 2005.

In a statament, that did not name the actor, a spokesman said: "On Wednesday, November 1, City of London Police referred an allegation of sexual assault to the Metropolitan Police Service.

"It is alleged a man assaulted another man (Victim 1) in 2008 in Lambeth. On Friday, November 17 a further allegation was made about the same man.

"The allegations are of sexual assaults against a man (Victim 2) in 2005 in Lambeth. Officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating."

Last week it was revealed that 20 men had come forward to claim they were victims of inappropriate behaviour at the hands of Spacey, while he was at the Old Vic between 2004 and 2015.

It is not clear whether the new police investigation relates to one of the complaints that was made to the Old Vic and was then passed on.
