Kew stabbing: Man knifed during 'attempted car-jacking' near Kew Gardens
A man has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed with an "enormous knife" near the world famous Kew Gardens.
Police were scrambled to Royal Parade in Kew, south-west London, just before 8am on Sunday following reports of a knife attack.
The victim, who is in his 50s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
One witness told the Daily Mail that it "looked like they were trying to steal his car".
Another told the website: "The chap had bought a coffee and he walked around the corner, then someone heard screaming and he came stumbling back just past our shop and into the coffee shop."
Horrific stabbing this morning outside Torellis - thoughts with the victim. Enormous knife. Not what you expect in Kew on a sleepy Sunday morning. Stay safe all.

"Drove past, it looks very serious indeed," said another.
A cordon is in place at the scene just five minutes' walk from the gates of the botanical gardens.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, a Met Police spokesman said.
It comes after two teenagers were stabbed and another was attacked at a house in Kensington, west London, at about 7pm on Saturday.
All three were rushed to hospital although none of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Police said two other men, aged 18 and 19, and a woman aged in her late teens or early 20s were arrested in connection with the incident in Wilsham Street.
Following the incident, a Section 60 order was put in place in the surrounding area, allowing senior police officers to authorise the stop and search of pedestrians and vehicles.
