A key Leicestershire council system is down this week. Harborough District Council's planning portal has been unavailable since Thursday, November 14.

The system cannot be accessed by neither staff at the council nor customers and will not be back up and running until after Thursday, November 21. Anyone who tries to access the system before then will get this message: "This site cannot be reached."

Harborough District Council has advised the public that "due to scheduled maintenance and essential software updates, the planning portal would not be available to both customers and staff between Thursday, November 14, and Thursday November 20".

When working, the portal can be used to gain advice on project planning, building, and completion. Users can also source planning advice on the system, and check the planning history of a site. Users can also apply for pre-application advice.

Customers are also able to check the status of a planning application and comment on applications. The system can also be used to find out what planning decisions have been made and if an appeal has been made against a decision.

A message on Harborough District Council's website said: "Our Customer Services advisors won’t have access to the information either during this time so please only contact Customer Services with any queries once the systems are available again.

"We apologise for any inconvenience."
