Khan Shaykhun Resident Recounts the Horror of Losing His Family in Suspected Chemical Attack

Youssef Abdel Hamid, a resident of Khan Shaykhun, lost 20 members of his extended family in the April 4 suspected chemical attack, including his wife Dalal and their two infant children Aya and Ahmed.

Youssef recounted the incident to prominent Syrian activist journalist Hadi Al-Abdallah. In his recalling of the incident, he explicitly claims that sarin gas emerged from an explosion which took place near his home and killed his wife and children.

The use of sarin or any other chemical agent remain unconfirmed at the time of writing; however, both Doctors Without Borders and the World Health Organization have suggested that medical reports lend credence to the likelihood that sarin, and potentially chlorine gas, may have been used in the Khan Shaykhun attack.
