Kharkiv Suburb a 'Haunted and Abandoned Place' in Wake of Bombardments

The residential neighborhood of Saltivka in north Kharkiv has been seriously damaged by months of bombardment, as seen in video posted on August 3.

Saltivka, about 50 km from the Ukraine-Russia border, has been a regular target of Russian bombardment during the war, Ukrainian researcher Maria Avdeeva said.

Avdeeva posted a video on Twitter on August 3 showing the widespread damage to civilian infrastructure, including many of the district’s tower blocks, which she said were home to 400,000 people before the war. It was now a “haunted and abandoned place”, she said. Credit: Maria Avdeeva via Storyful
