Kick-Ass star won't do 3 because of how 2 was handled

From Digital Spy

Chloe Grace Moretz shot to fame as the C-bomb dropping, murderous Hit-Girl in the first Kick-Ass movie back in 2010. She returned for Kick-Ass 2 in 2013 and, as is the case with these superhero movies, you'd expect her to be contracted for at least one more.

But the actress has stated that she is done with the character and the franchise, and it's all because of the sequel.

Speaking at the Provincetown Film Festival (via IndieWire), the actress said: "I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special.

"I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all.

"As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I kind of want to keep her there. I kinda wanna keep everyone's mind in Kick-Ass. So I don't think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at least I don't think with Hit-Girl in it."

Kick-Ass 2 was panned for largely copying the first film, with the instances where it did differ from the original, like Hit-Girl kissing Kick-Ass, not being warmly received either. Jim Carrey also refused to promote the film, although that was due to the violence and not the quality (or lack thereof).

Matthew Vaughn, who directed the first film, is looking at his options on how to continue the franchise. One option is a reboot focusing on the new comic book iteration (which Tessa Thompson is very keen on) or a Hit-Girl movie that's either a sequel or origin story.
