Kids Among Hundreds at Charlotte Protest

Among the hundreds of protesters who marched in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, September 24, were children. Many of them carried Black Lives Matter signs. The march was to call for the release of police video of the fatal shooting of Keith Lamont Scott. Police later said they would release some of the footage from the shooting.

Scott was killed on Tuesday while police were hunting for a suspect on a warrant. Scott had been sitting in his car when, police say, he got out of the vehicle with a gun. His family says he was sitting in the vehicle, reading a book, waiting for his son to get off the school bus.

Protests have been held each night since the shooting and at times have grown violent. A protester was shot Wednesday night and later died. Police also have fired tear gas at protesters, whom they say were robbing vehicles and setting fires. A curfew was put into place from midnight to 6 am each night. Credit: Instagram/Germain Snuggs
